Macromedia Captivate Review - It's all about the audio
(Page 4 of 5 )
If your slide doesn’t have audio, you can click an “audio” button on the toolbar and be presented with a screen that will allow you to record or import a new narration, or edit an existing one.

As you can see, its pretty straight forward. Click the “Record” button to record, and then speak into your microphone. Once you have recorded your narration, you have the ability to modify it. The audio editing screen is a little more complex than the recording screen.

In the middle of the screen, is a wavelength representation of your narration. This may not seem like much to some people, but it can be incredible useful. Are you the kind of person who gets nervous as they narrate? How about botch a word or two along the way, or even gulp air in between sentences?
By using the above editor, you can get rid of pauses at the beginning, end, and even in the middle of the narration. You can remove the sounds of breathing, and insert silence in its place. You can even re-record all or portions of the narration. Use this as a touch up utility to fine tune exactly what you want your audio to sound like. For power users, there is even an IMPORT utility to import narration perfected in another application.
