In the last tutorial we discussed the basics and syntax of CSS, where to write the files and how to apply them to our pages. In this brilliant article, we will go over how to apply styles to backgrounds and text. So let's get busy.

There are many ways in which one can manipulate text with style sheets, and we are going to try to cover most of them in the remainder of this article and the next one. For the moment, let's look at a nifty little table displaying the properties and values we will be discussing:

Allows you to set the color of the text

Allows you to set the direction in which the text flows

Allows you to set the distance between your lines

Allows you to increase or decrease the amount of space between characters

Allows you to align the text

Allows you to add decorations to your text

Indents the first line of text

Allows you to control the letters in an element

Allows you to set how the white space within an element is handled

Allows you to increase or decrease the amount of space between words
