(Page 2 of 2 )

Before you can install WordPress on your WAMPP, you will need to set-up a MySQL database. Click the "Admin" button next to MySQL in the XAMPP Control Panel:

This will launch PHPMyAdmin. Click on the Databases tab and enter a new name for your database, then click the "Create" button to create your database.

Your database has now been created and you are finally ready to install WordPress locally.

Unzip the file and wait for it to extract. Once it does, find the file:

and open it in your favorite editor (DreamWeaver, Notepad, etc). You will see a group of settings inside. Change the following:

define('DB_NAME', 'what ever you named your database');

define('DB_USER', 'root');

define('DB_PASSWORD', '');

define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');

Once the changes have been made, Save File As wp-config.php in the C:\xampp\htdocs\Wordpress folder.

Finally, open a new Internet browser and type in the following URL:

You will be asked to fill in some details, such as a Site Title, Username, Password, and E-mail. Once finished, click on the "Install WordPress" button.

To test your install and to access the Administrator page of your WordPress site, go to the URL:
